Trail overview

Goa has a rich habitat which makes it a wonderful destination for bird-watching. It is home to both Resident and Migratory birds. Goa has rivers, mangroves, swamps, fresh springs, ponds/tanks, fields and sanctuaries.

Dr Salim Ali spent significant time studying birds in Goa and rightfully has a sanctuary named after him.

The Trail showcases the rich habitat that Goa has to offer.

Plan an early morning ride or a late evening ride as it is better for birding. Make sure you have good pair of binoculars

Trail Tip

Places to see on route.

The trail starts from Agarwada junction and riding over the Chapora river. From the marshes of siolim head towards mapusa river and ride through the village roads of Bastora Nachinola and Pombrupha.

Take the ferry to the island of Charao which leads you to the Dr Salim Ali bird sanctuary. Details of the places are on the trail.
