Trail overview

Goa is known for its Seafood, I wanted to make this an exploration ride from the jetty and the market as you can witness what is going to be served fresh on your plate.

We all love a good Goan Fish curry thali, you can also try out other preparations like Rechado fish and Rawa prawn fry, Crab Xec Xec, Ambotik curry, Calva curry ( good breakfast or evening snack ) and the delicately flavoured Caldin.

The Trail offers a list of sit down restaurants, takeaway options and other famous holes in the wall.

Places we will cover –
Anand Bar – on Anjuna – Siolim Road
Vinayak – by the paddy fields in Assagao
Khedekar’s – the takeaway kitchen
Annapurna – by the famous Swiss chapel
Reis Corner – behind Mapusa market
Crazy Crabs & Fat Fish – close to the famous holiday destination of Baga and Calangute
Manisha – A family run kitchen in Saligao

All places are best for Lunch and Dinner, so explore over a few days

Trail Tip

Places to see on route.

The trail starts from Chapora jetty (a beautiful place to take pictures ) and passes through the villages of Assagao and Parra along paddy the green fields. The trial from Vinayak to Khedekar’s is one that goes through some beautiful Goan houses and then climbs up the Parra hill leading to the busy streets of Mapusa city. Many of the spots are close to the famous holiday destinations in North Goa.

Look out for tender coconut stalls and juice centres for refreshments after a good meal. Details of the places are on the trail.

Extend this Trail.

If you love red meat and pork is what you need, then head to the little village of Nachinola, where you will find the Goan restaurant – Andron. Run by Tony, an ex-sailor who specializes in delivering the best Pork in North Goa. Highly recommend you try the Pork Solante and Pork Roast.

He’s also a great lad to chat with about all things Goa and Sussegad.
